Custom grinding down 10mm wrench for fan removal 700 1989

I've ALWAYS had trouble taking off the four 10mm nuts holding the fan onto the water pump pulley..They keep rounding off because the open ended wrench is the only tool I can fit onto these nuts. Now I have the idea of taking an open/closed end 10mm wrench and grinding down the closed end to fit in behind the fan clutch and remove these pesky buggers without rounding off the corners. Any one done this before?
