Changing the time belt and tensionor on my 88 240. What a pain this one has been. The crank shaft pully was very dificult to get off. I took the fly wheel cover off then... here's the tip...
Use a quality screwdriver to jam the gears. I didn't and as a result snapped the tip of the screwdriver off. It freaked me out at first cause I thought it fell back in, but after further inspection, don't think theres a problem.
Then... I finally broke the pully free (and i do mean broke!). the pin on the gear that the pully lays on sheared right off. $45 for a new gear.
anyway, all's well now.
