Hi all,
I have recently acquired a 1985 240 DL, that I have been slowly bringing back to life. Part of the problem (why it was rid of), is that the PO hooked up the battery backwards, and the engine bay started "smoking." Well, I got the car, hooked up the battery right, and it starts and runs just fine! Gotta love it!
Anyway, I found one of the results of the backwards battery last night, and it's the ground strap between the alternator and the block being TOTALLY fried! I replaced it with a smaller wire I had laying around in the shed, but am now having second thoughts about it. Is this something I NEED to get as a Volvo part? Can I buy this wire anywhere (Checker, Auto Zone)? Also, are there other ground straps like this in the engine bay that I need to be checking for? Any other problems that may have happened that I need to look into?
Also, if anyone has any trim for this brick for sale, please let me know, I need some minor stuff. (A metal hubcap, some front bumper DS stuff, and the two chrome rear window strips).
Many thanks in advance,
Greg
