tripmeter is screwy. 200

fellow bricks,
on my 1988 244, my tripmeter push rod has busted (actually it was like this when i bought it, but i never checked it when looking at it). The odometer works fine and so does the tripmeter, i just cannot reset it because it doesn't push in. i am planning on gluing the rod back onto the lever but the lever has become disconnected some how. I pulled out the dash and speedo gauge to look closer at it and cannot find out how it levers back in with some tension and where it hooks up to, to reset the tripmeter to zero.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks to all in advance, this board has saved me many of times and i am grateful!
