Engine and wiring harness swap 700 1985

Hello. I own a 1985 740 Turbo wagon and cracked my block (too much boost). I am going to be replacing it with one from the local bone-yard. I will be purchasing the short-block because everything else is perfect. Can I use a non-turbo block or do I have to use a turbo block? Also, I am going to search for a good wiring harness. Is there any difference in harnesses for newer ones (like 86 or 87. Any other info would be greatly appreciated!
