cold start problem, e-prom update?? 700 1988

I was wondering if anybody knows anything about the e-prom update described in the FAQ, My 88 760 tic wagon is having some cold start problems. The car starts fine and idles for a few seconds and then dies it will restart and idle fine once it is warmed up. I had already replaced the AMM,IAC valve, and cleaned the throttle body. I thought maybe e-prom thing could be my problem but I don't even know if it would apply to my vehicle. What do you guys think? Am I looking in the wrong place? Thanks in advance for everyones help.
