What are the symptoms and concerns of a blocked up check valve? 200

I heard this valve on the manifold can be clogged. It is the thing that connects to the manifold and has a thin rubber tube connected to it on the metal tubing. The rubber hose runs throgh the fire wall. Will pressure build up in engine if this valve is clogged? Or can one just ignore it if it is clogged--assuming that one does have a clogged check valve.
