oil seal leakage, oh no, please oh no. 700 1985

i seem to have an oil leak just above my water pump. it looks like the seal there may have been split about 1/2inch. is there any way i can short term fix this without having to replace the seal?? is it hard to replace the seal if i did? oh, and that isn't the head gasket is it?
