Hi all: I've got an '89 740 16-valve, and the power steering pump just went. I've having it done by a shop (I know, I know, I should do it myself, but ...). The replacement pump is coming rebuilt from Volvo, but the mechanic tells me that there is a different pump listed for the 16-valve than for other 740s. Apparently pressure and specs are the same on the two pumps, but the part where the hose connects is straight on the 16-valve version, and bent on the other one. More importantly, the 16-valve version is TWICE as expensive as the other one!! The mechanic is inclined to put in the less expensive one, since they appear identical (with the exception of this connection), and he's not having any problem getting a good connection. What gives? Are the two pumps identical? Is there any good reason to not put the less expensive one in?
TIA,
Tom
