OIL TEMP SENDER LOCATION OTHER THAN DRAIN PLUG ? 200 1991

Hi!

I want to put an oil temp gauge in my 240 B230.

I know the stock sender location is the oil sump drain plug.

Is this part available from Volvo? Part #?

Are there other good locations for the oil temp sender?
Back of the head with a VW sender? VW part #? VDO #? Thread size?
T-joint at the oil pressure sender?

Is the oil sump the best location for this sender?
Wouldn't the oil be too cool there at the bottom of the pan to give an accurate reading?
I read in an archive post someone said NOT to split the oil pressure sender line to get a temp hookup. Why not? What's the difference between there and the back of the cylinder head?

Lots of questions, I know, but it just seems that the oil drain plug is a stupid location for the temp sensor. It's an add on. Out in the air. May get damaged. In the way during oil change.

Anybody have some success hooking up an oil temp sender somewhere other than the drain plug?

Thanks,
Bert
