Alternators - '88 240 vs. '89 740GL 16V - What's the Difference? 200 1988

The Volvo dealer's part reference sheets show a different Bosch alternator for the '88 240 vs. the 16-valve '89 740 GL. But, the '90 740 8-valve has the same alt. as the '88 240. Both alts. are 80 amp.

What's different about the alternator on the 16v, and could it still be mounted on an 8v '88 240 with no issues? I'm hoping to find a good used one, and I have a couple of prospects.

Thanks in advance.
