mpg black smoke problem 200

ok here is my car's problem. My 240DL 1990 gets about 15mpg and makes a lot of black smoke on acceleration or when you gun it in neutral. The exhaust smells like gasoline and it spits out black globs. My fuel pump or filter is making a sound like sucking the bottom of a glass with a straw.
