oil cap 900

Whne working on my car yesterday I noticed that if I unscrewed the oil cap it would try and jump off of the filler region I think I have heard that this is indicative of excess compression in system, what should i check to remedy this, it wants to blow off pretty hard and if off affects idle of car.
