Possibly Switching to synthetic oil......maybe.......I will not say the 'A' word!!! 200 1984

Please...no oil wars....

OK, I've been reading. And I think I'm ready to make the switch. Being a chemistry grad student, I am alway wary of what I read on the internet. I've ready about the "fake" catalytically cracked synthetics...Castrol anyone? Technically, you could call those synthetics. Then there's my pal Mobil 1. Only problem is that they don't mention an extended drain interval. Heck, if I'm going to pay that much for Mr. Synth, give me some time!!

Then there's Amsoil. Initialy, I was extremely skeptical. It seemed that the people using Amsoil were more anal about their bricks than I. Maybe they were just mentally ill? But I think I'm about to be converted. Just need that little tip over the edge.

I know what Paul S is going to say. As true as all his info may be...he does have a vested interest. (BTW, I think I'm going to buy via Paul if I decide to become born-again. Just supporting the Volvo community!) So, are there any other Amsoilytes out there who want to stand up and testify?

Or...are there any get the chepaest jug from Wal Mart folk (of which I used to be) who want to speak...

Also, I was wondering if there were any out there who have done oil analysis on regular or non-Amsoil synthetics as a control? The scientist in me wants a control!
