Alternatives to Volvo (be nice) ?

I like my 93 940 Wagon a lot ... but sometimes I feel it would be nice to have another vehicle with a more comfortable and quieter ride ... but not giving up quality, design, spaciousness and good handling. Does an alternative exist ?
