on a 1988 760 Turbo with IRS (indep. rears)there is this little sheet metal deflector that is supposed to guard the rear calipers. It goes on behind the calipers, but I'm not sure exactly how to mount it. My car had been bought used...when I did a brake job I found it mounted one way on one side, and a different way on the other. I was wondering if the plate is supposed to go between the caliper and the caliper mount, or if it is just supposed to bolt on to the back side underneat the heads of the bolts.

Lets say the : is the guard, and the " is the mount, and the | is the caliper

or
