Turbos 200

Hey,
Im trying to convince my mom to buy a 244ti (or 242ti) but she keeps on saying that turbos have a really history of breaking down. Is this true, or is it just that a turbo is just one more thing that can go wrong? I just wanted your guys thoughts about this.
