Wiper Controls 200 1986

As a bonus for replacing my tailgate harness my rear wiper now works. The slider that controls the rear wiper has a short. Is it easy to replace the entire stick? I perfomed a similar repair on an '82 Volks Rabbit--it took more time to pull the plastic covering off the steering column than to actually replace the part.
