Hood latch wont catch fully 200 1993

Hello, I live in NJ and I have a 245 Classic. It is a wonderful car. When I purchased i noticed the hood did not close all the way(about an inch shy of fully closing.) When you push it down it tries to catch makes a small metal reach for metal catch sound, but does not catch. Does anybody Know how to fix this problem?
