740 Wagon Reliability? 700

I'm thinking of buying a 1990 740 wagon GLE with 95,000 original miles.

Can anyone provide some insight as to what kinds of major repairs / glitches I might need to anticipate?

Also, can anyone offer a comparison of the 240 vs. 740.

Thanks in advance for the collective wisdom of the list.
