Is there a different fitment/hardware used for rear turbo anitsway bar???? 700

Hello folks,

I have a question regarding the rear antisway bar I pulled off of a 86 764T. It seems to has a different differential than on my car(a flat metal back plate vs the cast one on my 89 740GL). On the donor car, the rear antiway bar has enough clearance so that it does not contact the backplate. However, on my car, the increase in diameter from 16 to 19 mm allows the bar to contact the bottom bolt of my differential. So the questions are,

1) Was there a different anti sway bar bracket used for the 1989 740GL vs the 760 to lower the position of the bar a bit and eliminate contact?

2) Was the Actual bar shape changed between 1986 and 1989? I was under the impression that the rear bars are all identical(shape wise but obviously not diameter wise)!

3) There is rubbing/noise when going over a bump and I think it is the contact between these 2 items. Is this a big problem and what is the best way to fix it?

Sorry about the long post & thanks in advance,

Tim
