COUSINS:
I just picked up an '85 240 Turbo sedan. Previous owner had put a new
timing belt in just a month ago. I got it home (barely running) and have
given it a full tuneup, checked the CO (was too rich), R&R'd the intake
manifold and throttle body to install a Volvo replacement engine wiring
harness, fixed 4 small vacuum leaks, checked the injector spray (replaced
2), and installed new injector seals.
Now the idle is too high - about 1600 RPM, and I cannot get the idle down
with the throttle body adjustment. If I clamp off the idle control hose,
the idle drops quickly, and the engine would die if I kept the hose
clamped. The engine does run much more smoothly, other than the high idle.
Any suggestions? One thought I had was if the front pulley/vibration
damper has shifted, but how would you tell? Could the timing belt be off?
Ideas please.
