steering column 200 1983

Fellas:
Quick q; do the u-joints on the steering column/assembly usually go bad? Reason I ask, I really don't hear any noise, but when I turn the steering wheel to the right (from stop to low speed), I could feel some kind of interuption from the smooth action of the steering wheel. Only at a certain spot that if I continue turning the wheel 360 deg.(1 rev) later, I would feel it again. What could it be? Thanks in advance. I'm planning on pulling one (column) from the yard tommorow. BTW, all front end bushings, wheel bearings, tie rods & ends, and strut cartridge & mount bearing are new.
