Hi,
Has anyone tried to fit a late ('88-) 760 sedan's multi-link rear suspension on to a 740? I know someone who's wrecking an '88 760 sedan and I'm pretty interested in fitting the rear suspension onto my '90 740 sedan. There's a few question I have, if anyone could answer them that'd be awesome.
1) Is it a bolt-on job? Does both cars have the same floor-plan? Would my 740 have all the holes necessary or will it involve some drilling?
2) Can the differential from my 740's live axle be fitted into the 760's multi-link? I know the late 760's got 3.73:1 diff ratio, and I think my 740's got 4.1:1 diff ratio. I'd like to keep the same diff ratio after the conversion, if I can.
3) What else would be involved in the conversion? From what I've seen, I think I need to change the fuel tank and exhaust pipes as well to accomodate the multi-link. Correct me if I'm wrong. Anything else involved?
I know this is going to be a big job, but the thought of an even smoother ride in my 740 is just too tempting. Again if anyone can help me out with this, that'll be great.
