Couple of days ago, the spouse put the '92 960 into low gear for the run up the icy driveway. Didn't make it. I put it in drive, made another run, and wound up with about a second of rear wheel spin, and the rear end going sideways about 18". Started getting the yuletide lights on the trans. Local indy mech called Volvo parts and mechanic guys 150 miles away, and was told it probably had to do with the sideslip, and parts would be shipped. Meantime, car appears to shift normally and the lights have now gone out. Should I:
1. leave it alone, or
2. take this as a warning that, whatever else is going on, the PNP switch oughta be replaced anyway, (noticed someprior observations re use of low and the PNP issues, in the comments on the board)and/or
3. be watching for some other symptom?
Vehicle is daily work commuter, about 70 miles roundtrip--and except for oil consumption has been fairly reliable.
Suggestions or amusing ribald comments welcome.
