master cylinder time? 200 1992

As I noted in a post late last month, the '92 245's brake pedal seemed to be lower after a couple of white-knuckled stops in snow which engaged the ABS. Initially the pedal just seemed lower on the first pump and returned to normal height on the subsequent pumps, but now under sustained pressure the pedal does indeed drop (slowly but detectably). Since there is no fluid loss, I'm assuming that the master cylinder seals are weak and it's time for a replacement.

The last MC I did was on a '67 Spitfire eons ago... single chamber and completely lacking in sophistication. Any special techniques for bench bleeding or anything else I should know about? Chris Herbst mentioned that the MC could be replaced without needing to bleed the brakes, and I would appreciate hearing details of that technique if anyone else is aware (or if you read this, Chris!).

TIA
