PCV Aftermath 200 1988

Just finishing up with the PCV set-up and seals that were leaking on my "new" 88 wagon. The PCV valve was pretty welll crusted shut. I am concerned about varnish and sludge build-up INSIDE the engine. Is it wise to flush a motor with 270K, or better to leave it be?
