Automatic Transmission Cooler 200

I don't do towing, but live and work on steep hills in San Francisco. I drive only old 240 series Volvos and want to avoid dying trannys. Of course, I'll change my transmission fluid regularly, but I'm wondering if buying a transmission cooler and/or installing an electric fan in front of the radiator would make a difference in prolonging my tranny life.
