broken 1990 240 odometer 200 1990

I have a broken odometer, I know it's not the gear that's bad and I just had a Speedo shop work on it and they allegedly replaced the circuit board but when I plug it in the car it still doesn't work. Can anybody tell me were to start looking for the source of the problem? Everything else in the instrument cluster works fine.
