Wet weather running problem 900 1991

I am having a problem with a 91 940GLE 16valve. It developes a stuttering in the ignition when run in heavy rain (today was our first big storm), (feels like it's running on only three sometimes), it has also exhibited this when run thru a service station type car wash in the past. Obviosly water is getting in somewere, but I have not located it thru a visual search. My previos Volvo, a 90 740GLE with the same B234F never did this in over 350k miles. Any advice is greatly appreciated. THANX
