Tranny flush, job for rookie?

Is an automatic tranny fluid change a job for the inexperienced? I've read some previous messages on the topic. Is it just; disconnect the correct hose at the radiator, start the Volvo and collect the fluid? Can I mess anything up? Any advice or tips? Thanks for any info. What type of trans fluid is required or best for a 1983 240?
