What a difference a Tube makes... 700 1988

I posted comments a week about about Performance and Octane...

Well. I was very pleased that as I looked over my car this weekend I noticed a split in the joining tube coming out of the intercooler on the drivers side. I can't believe that I never noticed that before... It was on the very underside.

So today I replaced the tube ($15) and I was so delighted on my test drive to hear pinging in my engine. I guess I never had enough boost pressure before. In any case, I filled up with 91 octane this time, not the 87 that ws in there. It was neat too to see my vacuum guage reads in a much broader range in both boost and vacuum.

Hopefully this will help my mileage problem (16-17 mpg). I know for sure it has had a huge impact on performance so far. The throttle response is much better. My car felt spongy before. I think I am finally getting my car close to the 160 hp it is supposed to have. It was really rough when I got it.
