Wipers slow, and no intermittent 200 1980

Hi

My wipers seem very, very slow. On fastest, they are slower than the high speed on my wife's Mazda or my daughter's Nissan. On slowest, they're nearly slow enough not to need an intermittent setting - which is just as well, as the intermittent doesn't work. Any clues?
