I don't feel good anymore.....Rear End Leak may be more? 700 1990

Ok...I bought a rear pinion seal because it's leaking. Decided because it's winter to have my local guy (really good volvo, bimmer dude) do it instead. Called him today and he scared the crap out of me. He said that I might need a new differential and carrier bearing and U-Joints and stuff. So what do you guys think. Thought a leaky seal was pretty simple.
