Cold idle stuttering 900 1991

I have a question regarding my 91 940GL Sedan with B230F and AW71.

When the car is started from cold it starts right up and idles fine. Then when I put it into reverse to back out the garage the engine stutters and sometimes almost stalls. then suddenly it will pick up revs very quickly and rise to about 1200rpm then settle back to normal. It will only do this first thing in the morning and then be fine the rest of the day. Car was recently serviced. Has new plugs cap rotor and ignition leads. Throttle body is clean and I cleaned the idle valve about 4 months ago but I'm wondering whether it still might be faulty. Any thoughts??
