how can u tell if timing is off(driving wise)? t-belt q 700 1991

so i just replaced the T-belt on my volvo and when reinstalling i had a few probs and questions. well i think i got mine on off by one tooth on the cam or crank gear. which is 6deg on the cam and 12 on the crank ... SO ... if i had the timing retarded by 6 deg on the cam gear how would i be able to tell? all te marks for the belt seem to line up but i'm just not 100% sure because i can't really find the mark on the crank.

so i drove the car around and it 'feels' a little laggy slower than norm, that's y i think the timing is off, i figure if it was advanced i'd feel/hear the motor detonate when i get into boost and i dont' get any of that so i'm thinking it must be retarded unless its just me wishing my car was faster haha...

so hm well ... will mpg be affected if the timing was retarded by 6 deg? if so by how much? when i start the motor it seems to take a few more turns to turn over than normally, but that could just be because i'm doing it on a cold motor when its cold out(my plugs are 2 ranges colder so it takes a little longer normally to start when cold).

anyidea's? car rev's fine, doesn't really even feel laggy untill its in gear and i get the on gas .... ha i figure might as well just crank up the boost a bit more if its off by 6deg, that way less to worry about detonation
