M-47 shift knob buzz 200 1989

Hi! Annoying buzz starts at 65 mph and has defied silicone under the center cap and betweenn the core and cover. Even jammed tooth picks in every accessible crack but nothing helps. Noise stops with just a touch or a finger placed under the bulb and you'd think the solution would be simple. I've removed the boot and used wheel bearing grease on reverse lockout mechanism and that didn't help either. The bulb is tight to the shift rod and has never been loose. Can Santa help? TIA
