Removing shift knob 200 1984

Have '84 240DL manual. How do I take off the shift knob? I am having O/D problems and have checked the solenoid and the relay fuses behind the glove box, kick panel and in the fuse box itself. I am left with no choice but to trace the circuitry manually from the shifter, but stupid me, don't know how to get that shift knob off... Thanks in advance...
