O/D problems 200 1987

Just baught my 87 240 brick in october, Been driveing since. The other day I disengaged the o/d on the automatic. Since then I havent been able to get the O/D to engage. I push the button, but it doesnt sound like it is makeing contact with anything. And the light in the dashboard stays on. I need to get this thing fixed it is driveing me bokers. Anyone got any ideas?
