hose follow up 700

checked the FAQ and saw sites for silicone hoses. They look to me to be very short, but then maybe they are also cheap (i can only hope). I was wondering if I could just attach one of these shorter silicone hoses to the damaged end of my existing hose and basically strengthen the hose that way.
any thoughts?
