turn signal and parking light replacement 700 1988

Hello everyone,

Can anyone give me some helpful hints in the replacement of the turn sˇgnal and parking lamp units on an 88 740? I have found the nuts holding them on but cannot figure out how to get to them. The sockets that I have are not deep enough to fit over the length of the bolt that extends beyond the nut, at least on the parking lamp. I determined that both light modules on the driver's side needed to be replaced while installing Euro side marker lights on the 740 that I have loaned my 16 year old son. As usual, thanks in advance.
