740 GL Fuel Gauge 700 1989

Hi.

I have a 740 GL just passed 260' km. The last two years my fuel gauge jumps up and down, if there are less then 1/2 fuel the gauge became more or less dead. all the time. I don't think it's the in tank gauge. Does any body know about bad power supply/signal in the gauge instrument it selves?
