Hard to replace rear bushings; ball joints? 200 1985

Hi everyone. Well, when I took my car in to be all checked out and have them try to fix some of my car problems the mechanic noted that it needed new trailing arm bushings and new "reaction rod" bushings. I didn't think to ask at the time, but has anyone heard the term reaction rod before, is it the same as a torque rod? They wanted more than I want to spend to replace these things and I see the parts aren't to expensive so if I can feesibly do it I'd like to. So, has anyone here with limited skills (although not too bad) and all your basic tools done this successfully?
The also said my right front (are there any others?) ball joint was bad and in need of replacing soon, these too are fairly cheap parts (I would replace both sides if I can do it), so is it not too hard to do this work and have it come out safely?
TIA
