Greetings:
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
I was driving early this morning when i noticed the little arrow overdrive indicator to illuminate on my dashboard. This happened a few times, while I was commuting through the city. I just tapped the button that is on the gear shift and it went out. However upon driving on the highway going about 75-80 mph it illuminated once again! But I never noticed a change in the transmission's shifting pattern. So I just tapped the gear shift button a few times and the tranny shifted down to a deep growl! It took another tap of the OD button and the tranny resume to its normal shifting. Did I damage my tranny by doing this? The tranny was only in this mode for about 3-4 seconds tops. The car is well cared for and i never beat on either the tranny or the engine. My guess is that the little OD button may have a malfunction in it? But from now on I will only deactivate the arrow light only when I am at a very low speed in the city. Please any and all knowledge/experiences are welcomed. I need to hear from everyday Volvo gurus!! Oh and the tranny appeared to shift quite well upon returning to city driving, the shifts were smooth and shudder free. Please share your thoughts on the matter.
