Return of the 780 sputtering / stalling! 700 1990

See: http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=566220&show_all=1 for the back story.

Well, I finally got my car to a mechanic since my last post and he 'fixed' the problem. The guy there was very nice and ended up noticing that the tube that lays over the engine and connects the air intake tube to the flame trap had come disconnected under its cover. He said that hooking it back up caused the car to run perfectly. No problem, the car drove fine for 2 days after that just fine.

On the third day though, I was driving home and within 1/4 mile of the drive way, the whole car gives out AGAIN. Same exact symptoms, no power except for idle, and as soon as you give it gas, the thing just stops firing for a second or two. The turbo gauge will also RISE while the engine is dying and seemly flucuate with how hard the gas is pressed down, despite the engine sputtering around.

I double checked all of my intake connections in the engine and they seemed ok. I also repaired the rot that had occured in the AMM -> Turbo hose (used seamsealer). Still non driveable.

In my other thread, someone suggested that the cat is plugged. I do know that the cat audibly 'hisses' while the car is running at idle but I am not sure if that is a huge issue or not.

Thanks for any advice!
