Hi all!

A friend of the family is selling a 1984 240 GL with a 4 speed+OD. The car only has 85K miles and looks to be in very good condition. She is asking $1,200, and it sounds like a good deal. My sister needs a car as hers was totalled recently by the insurance company after an accident. I have owned several old Saabs and know all their trouble points, but I dont know much about Volvo. The car was her husband's, and he was quite anal about the maintenance on it, he bought a newer car about 8 years ago and this one has been kept as a spare car and hardly used since. I am planning to go take a look at it and I would like to know what trouble spots I should look for and any insights. I know that many times when an older car is rarely used it will require some work. Also, we live in CT and my mother is concerned about volvo performance on snow, she has always heard that they get stuck a lot.
