charging problems 92 960 900

hi

three weeks back my car will not start in the morning(no crancking) the battery was dead so i jump started the car. it ran fine for 3 weeks and today 1 drove it on highway for 15kms and when tried to start again after 20 minutes the battery was dead again.jump started again took it to mechanic. he did a load test (at battery terminals) with car running at idle. it showed 12volts. when i pressed gas it went to 14.5 volts and stays there after that. i also niticed one of the cable terminal was green(at battery).any sugesstions before i change the alternator or battery. thanks in advance
