Hello all -
Recently purchased a 1987 240 GL with the B230 engine and 4-speed auto, 217k miles. Now that the stereo's in, I can turn to the mechanicals (priorities...)
The car won't accelerate past 4k on the tach, in any gear. It just runs out of breath. With the OD engaged the best I can get to is about 85 on the freeway - barely fast enough for California traffic. Acceleration is actually slower than my '82 DL with almost 300k on the original engine!
The previous owner had it taken to a dealership right before I bought it and was diagnosed with three items that would need repair/replacement :
* clean the throttle body and install a new gasket
* replace the ignition control module
* replace the engine wiring harness (!)
Any clues as to which should/needs to be done first? Also, where is the control module on this car?
TIA,
-eric
