Driveshaft disconnecting 700 1987

Hi Folks,
I would like to tow my 1987 780 Volvo with an automatic transmission using a 2 wheel car dolly (350 miles). The front wheels will be up on the dolly while the rears will be on the road. I was always told to disconnect driveshafts on auto trannys when towing this way as the tranny bearings do not get lubricated.
So, I have not seen the car yet and would like to know where would be the easiest place to disconnect the drive shaft. Just at the rear universal joint ? then wire up the driveshaft, or take the whole shaft out ? Also, anyone got any idea of wrench sizes and tools needed ?
Regards
Doug
