Wife drives my 89 nonturbo 740 for first time in forever and it DOES NOT START!! (her words exactly). I find great fuel flow (undo gas supply to fuel rail) but no spark out of the coil..also no current going into the coil upon cranking. After reading the Haynes manual and the FAQ's,this leads me to believe the ICU (ignition control module) is gone...it is original, 140K miles on it. Here's a list of stuff I've replaced recently to rule out these:
RPM sensor
Radio suppresent relay
Fuel pump relay
temp sensor for ICU
both fuses to intank and main fuel pumps
After consulting ATP electronics in England, I cannot find the ICU # for the EZ 117K that is OEM to the 89 740's. I have on hand a rebuilt Bosch ICU for the 240 B230 series (92). It is numbered 0 227 400 209 and 6 842 495. I need to know if it will interchange with the 89 740's? I know the 561 ECU's will interchange, is the same true for the ICU's?
Thanks for any help,
el Raidman
